Jim Edward Brotherton

October 22, 1941 — June 1, 2007

Jim Edward Brotherton, 65, fondly known as 'Col. Sanders'? by both co-workers and clients, passed away quietly at his home, on Friday June 1, 2007, following a lengthy illness. For the past 18 years, Jim has been a Sales Representative for Knickerbockers. A U.S. Navy veteran, Jim served his country with pride from 1961 to 1968. A true patriot, Jim exhibited the unselfish spirit and unconditional love for his fellowman that represent the core values on which our country was founded. His commitment to others was evident in his involvement with Buffalo Ridge Baptist Church bus ministry. Keeping the souls of children uppermost in his mind, he faithfully challenged young people to seek and come to know the Lord Jesus Christ. Today, he has received his eternal reward. A true friend to everyone he met, Jim could always be counted on to be there when help was needed. He gave without reservation and expected nothing in return. All who were fortunate enough to have known him will remember him for the kind soul he was. Jim was a native of Greeneville, Tennessee and was the son of the late Afton and Mabel Brotherton. He is also preceded in death by a sister, Phyllis Gresham. Survivors include : one son, Scott Brotherton of Conyers, GA.; a sister, Carolyn Spurling of Johnson City; a niece, Empress Spurling of Jonesborough. The graveside service for Jim Edward Brotherton will be conducted at 10 AM Wednesday, June 6, 2007 in the Mountain Home National Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Morris-Baker from 9 to 9:30 AM Wednesday prior to the procession to the cemetery.
