Jimmy Carlton Brown

March 24, 1943 — January 16, 2017

Jimmy Carlton Brown, age 73, passed away on Monday, January 16, 2017 at Johnson City Medical Center. He was a native of coastal North Carolina, who had lived much of his life in Johnson City. He was the son of the late Jonathan Marion Brown and Theoria Parker Brown of Wallace, NC. In addition to his parents, two brothers, George Robinson Brown, Sr. and Jonathan ?J.M' Brown, also preceded him in death. After serving four years in the U.S. Coast Guard stationed in Baltimore, Maryland, where he met his beloved wife of 51 years, they eventually returned to her native area of East TN. Jimmy retired after 40 years of working as a beauty supply sales rep. After his retirement he enjoyed working part time at O?Reilly?s Auto Parts, tending his yard and garden, and spending time with his beloved cat Honey Bun. The ones left behind to cherish his memory include: his loving wife, Brenda Galliher Brown; daughter, Angela Black and her son Angus Black, of Los Angeles, CA; brothers, Jerrell Brown and wife Pat Blanton Brown, of Wallace, NC, Robert ?Bobby' Brown and wife Donnie Marks Brown, of Penderlea, NC; sister, Marie Brown Carter and husband Coy Carter, of Wallace, NC; and sister-in-law, Ruth James Brown, of Rocky Point, NC; nieces and nephews, Theresa, George, Jr., Larry Wayne, Kim, Cherryl, Donna, Jennifer, Deborah, Robby, Christian, Clay and Michael. The family of Jimmy Brown will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 7:00 PM Thursday, January 19, 2017, at Morris-Baker. The funeral service will follow at 7:00 PM with Rev. Clay Carter officiating. The graveside committal service will be conducted on Monday, January 23, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Riverview Memorial Park, 9332 Hwy 117 North, Watha, NC 28478. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Minister, family and friends are requested to meet at the cemetery by 1:50 PM Monday.
