John Clifford Mckee

John Clifford McKee, 67, Johnson City, died Sunday, March 9, 2014 at the Christian Care Center of Johnson City following a courageous battle with cancer and multiple sclerosis. John was a native and lifelong resident of Johnson City and a son of the late Dr. Thomas P. and Mary Rose Clifford McKee. He was a graduate of Milligan College and Pepperdine University, Los Angeles, and retired from Nolichucky Mental Health after over thirty years of employment as a Licensed Marriage and Family Counselor. John was a member of the Lions Club. He was a lifetime member of St. Marys Catholic Church, Johnson City, a former member of the church choir, and a member of the Knights of Columbus. John was a lover of animals and rescued many in his lifetime. He also loved golf, spending time with his family and friends, and scuba diving, which started his passion for saltwater fish. He never met a stranger, and his humor was abundant, even in his final days. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Tully Russell, and two special aunts, Agnes Clifford and Frances Clifford Cain. Survivors include: his wife, Randi Wright McKee, of the home; son, John William McKee, and his wife Valerie, Franklin, TN; daughter, Kimberly Roseanne Thomas, and her husband Jamie, Johnson City; step-son, Casey Medders, and his wife Shelley, Bonaire, GA; step-daughter, Whitney Medders McGuffin, and her husband Frank, Morristown; grandsons, Hayden McKee, Carter Broehl, and Brenden Medders; granddaughters, Harper McKee, Kingsley Broehl, Addison McGuffin, Harper McGuffin, and Kelsey Medders; brother, Thomas McKee, and his wife Kem, Johnson City; and several nieces and nephews. A Funeral Mass of the Resurrection will be conducted 2:00 PM Saturday, March 15, 2014 at St. Marys Catholic Church. Father Pete Iorio will officiate. Pallbearers will be: John W. McKee, Casey M. Medders, Brenden C. Medders, Shaun Sandera, Frank McGuffin, Jamie Thomas, Aaron Morris, Bob Hefty, and Ben Williamson. Honorary pallbearers will be: John Walker, Jon Thomas, Darrell Booker, Dean Heath, Rich Carner, George Fredericks, and Ed Simerly. Following the funeral service, family and friends will proceed to Monte Vista Memorial Park for committal services. The family will receive friends from noon until 2:00 PM Saturday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Marys Catholic School, 2211 E. Lakeview Drive, Johnson City, TN 37601. The family would like to thank Christian Care Center of Johnson City for the excellent, loving care John received and Vickie Lovell for all her help with John during his illness and the care she has shown to his dear pets.
