John Cooter Estep

April 11, 1925 — December 11, 2005

John 'Cooter' Estep, 80, of Johnson City, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 11, 2005, at the Johnson City Medical Center following a lengthy illness. He was a native of Carter County and had lived there most of his life. He had lived in Johnson City for the past 32 years. Mr. Estep attended the River of Life Church in Piney Flats. He had retired as an employee of Sycamore Shoals Hospital. He was a son of the late Jim and Nancy Kelly Estep. Two sisters and three brothers also preceded him in death. Survivors; his wife, Helen Geneva Estep; one step daughter, Linda Workman and her husband, Jim, of Gray; one step son, Johnny Ray Estep of Johnson City; four grandchildren, Greg, Brad, Leig Ann and Amy; three great grandchildren, special friends, Clarence and Betty Cannon, Joe and Ruth Saylor and James and Ruby Workman. A funeral service will be conducted at 8:00 PM Monday from the Morris-Baker North Chapel. Pastors, Donnie Humphrey, Bill Greer, and Richard Kelly will officiate. Burial will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday in the Monte Vista Memorial Park. Family and friends will meet at the funeral home by 9:30 AM Tuesday and proceed to the cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Men from River of Life Church. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 until 8:00 PM on Monday.
