John Franklin Moody

John F. Moody, 76, of Johnson City, died Monday, January 25, 2010 at his residence. He was a native of Johnson City, son of the late Jarvis and Rose Gonchard Moody. John was a cook who retired from the Veterans Affairs Medical Center at Mountain Home. He was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church and attended the Skyline Heights Baptist Church. John was a veteran of the Korean War, having served in the US Marine Corps. He also was a member of the Marine Corps League and the VFW. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sons, Jeff and Ronnie Moody; four brothers, Jarvis, Jim, Joe and Ed Moody. Survivors include: his wife of over fifty years, Doris Ann Pardue Moody of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Kathy Ann Moody of Texas; a daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Phillip Mitchell of Greenville, South Carolina; a daughter-in-law, Phyllis Moody; a sister and brother-in-law, Teresa and Dan Bellar all of Johnson City; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. A funeral service is scheduled for Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in the North Chapel of the Morris '' Baker Funeral Home, under the direction of Rev. Don Page and Rev. Ken Kyker. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until time of service at 2:00 p.m. A committal service will be conducted following the funeral service in the Monte Vista Memorial Park with military honors provided by the Boone Dam VFW and the Tennessee National Guard. Active pallbearers will be: Jason and Phil Mitchell, John and Norman Moody, Keith Massey and Dan Bellar.
