John Robert Carr

John Robert Carr, 78 of Piney Flats, passed away on Thursday, October 26, 2006 in the Life Care Center of Elizabethton. He was a native and lifelong Piney Flats resident. John was a son of the late Mitchell and Mary Dicey Whaley Carr. He was also preceded in death by Mr. and Mrs. Ollie Shell, Ruth and Roy Curd and Ollie Shell, Jr. He was a member of the New Hope Christian Church Mr. Carr was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in Japan . He was a retired postal worker with the U. S. Postal service. Survivors include; his wife of 54 years, Dean Carr; one son, Bob Carr and his wife, Linda of Piney Flats; one grandson, Bobby D. Carr of Johnson City, one great granddaughter, Nicolle Ellen Carr of Johnson City; one brother, Frank Carr of Gray; special sister in law, Nola Meredith of Johnson City; two God daughters, Myra Lester of Rome, GA and Susan Nave of Kingsport. Funeral Services and Military Honors will be conducted at 2:00 PM Saturday from the Monte Vista Memorial Park. Mr. Paul Peer and Rev. Mack Houston will officiate. Entombment will follow the services. The family will receive friends at the Mausoleum Chapel following the services.
