Joseph B. Furches, 85, 4801 North Roan Street, died Friday, April 20, 2007 at the Johnson City Medical Center. Mr. Furches was a native of Greene County and had lived most of his life in Johnson City. He was a son of the late Charles Edward Furches and Rebecca Edwards Boone Furches. Mr. Furches was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters. He was a WWII US Navy veteran , serving in the Pacific Theater. Mr. Furches was a retired master diesel mechanic with E.C. Bellamy & Company at Holston Defense. He was a member of Boones Creek United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife, Mary Mottern Furches, one daughter, Barbara J. Furches, Johnson City, one son, Charles E. Furches and his wife, Sharon, Richlands, VA; three grandchildren, Lorie Batterman and her husband, Chris, Andrea Bowman and her husband, Mickey and Jessica Furches; two great grandchildren, William Henry Bowman and Shawn Bowman, several nieces and nephews, and a special family friend, Gennell Cradic.. A funeral service for Mr. Furches will be conducted at 8 PM Monday, April 23, 2007 from the Morris-Baker Funeral Home South Chapel. Reverend Dennis Loy will officiate. Graveside services will be held at 10 AM Tuesday at Maple Lawn Cemetery, Jonesborough, TN. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Monday at the funeral home. For those who wish, in lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Boones Creek United Methodist Church, 110 Mary Street, Gray, TN 37615.
