Julia Lorraine Parris

Julia Lorraine Parris, 85, Johnson City, passed away Monday, July 9, 2018, at home surrounded by family after a brief fight with cancer. She was born March 22, 1933, in Washington County, TN. She was a beloved wife, mother and sister. Mrs. Parris was a member of Heritage Baptist Church. She served as pianist at Central Free Will Baptist Church for years, alongside her husband, who was a music director. She was preceded in death by: her parents, Worley and Sylvia Arnold; sisters, Helen Lane, Betty Snyder and Ruby Boyles. She leaves behind: her best friend and husband, Glenn Parris; daughter, Teresa Whaley and her husband Bill; grandchildren, Natalie Whaley, Ashlee Whaley, Andrea Dernovshek and her husband Steven and Shaun Whaley and his wife Stephanie; first great grandchild, Nora; brother, Edward Arnold and his wife Thelma; loving nieces, Lisa, Diane, and Carol; nephew, Jeffrey Scott. Her life, her love, her gentleness, and her sweet spirit will be sorely missed by those who knew her and welcomed by those who have gone before her. Special love and thanks to Laura Vandekrol, Amy Williams, Sherry Williams and Mary Cate for the wonderful care they gave to Mrs. Parris. The Parris family will receive friends from 5 PM until 7 PM Thursday, July 12, 2018, at Heritage Baptist Church. The funeral will follow at 7 PM with Dr. Reggie Weems officiating. A committal service will be held Friday, July 13, 2018, at Mountain Home National Cemetery at 10:45 AM. Please meet at the cemetery by 10:35 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Samaritan?s Purse, 801 Bamboo Rd., Boone, NC 28607.
