Julia 'Judy' Taylor Onks, age 55, of 1109 Woodside Drive, Johnson City, Tennessee died Thursday, November 09, 2006 at her residence. She was a native and lifelong resident of Johnson City, the daughter of the late Elizabeth Wysor Taylor and the late Kyle Taylor. She was a 1969 graduate of Jonesborough High School and a 1971 graduate of Steed College. Mrs. Onks was retired from the VA in March of this year where she had worked for 34 years. She worked in several departments within the VA. Her last eight years were in the IRM Department where she helped implement electronic patient records. She was a member of First Christian Church in Johnson City where she was active in the music ministry playing the piano and the synthesizer. She also played the piano for the Sunday School service at the Appalachian Christian Village. Her past hobbies have included bowling and ladies softball. She played for several teams over the years, including Eastman Women?s League, the VA Ladies Softball Team and on First Christian?s Ladies Team. She also enjoyed landscaping, gardening and reading. Her favorite author was Max Lucado. Mrs. Onks is survived by her husband Gary Onks, one daughter, Ivy Painter and her husband Jason, of Johnson City; one son, Daniel W. Onks of Knoxville; two brothers, Jerry Taylor of Nashville and Joe Taylor of Kingsport; one sister, Joyce Bagot of Boone, North Carolina and two grandchildren, Owen William Painter and Kinley Elizabeth Painter. Funeral services for Mrs. Onks will be held Saturday, November 11, at 2:30 PM at Walnut Christian Church in Johnson City. Mr. Tim Wallingford will officiate. The family will receive friends at Walnut Christian Church from Noon until 2:30 PM on Saturday, prior to the service. Graveside services and burial will follow at Washington County Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be Mack Edmisten, Mickey Keplinger, Lloyd Kyte, Randall Rogers, Dwight Taylor and David Watson. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Lyman Fulton and Dr. David Reagan. In lieu of flowers, the familiy requests that memorial contributions be made to the current remodeling project of First Christian Church, 200 E. Mountcastle Drive, Johnson City, TN 37601
