Kenneth R. Red Kirk

Kenneth R. 'Red' Kirk, 63 of 3121 W. Walnut Street, Johnson City, died Sunday, September 11, 2005, at the Johnson City Medical Center. Mr. Kirk was a native of Erwin, Tn, and had lived most of his life in Johnson City. He was a son of the late Joe and Dora Ledford Kirk. Mr. Kirk had worked with the Park and Recreation Department of the City of Johnson City for the past thirty years. He was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Kirk is preceded in death by: his parents; two brothers, Mendal and Frank Campbell; and two half-sisters, Beulah Yarber and Mildred Brumit. Survivors include: his wife, Lois Phillips Kirk, of the home; one daughter, Mistie Kirk, of Johnson City; a granddaughter, Hailey Chance, of Johnson City; two sisters, Doris Edmondson, of Johnson City, and Jessie Wheeler, of Beaver Creek, OH ; a special friend, John Chance of Johnson City. A graveside funeral service for Kenneth R. 'Red' Kirk will be conducted at 2:30 PM Thursday in the Campbell Cemetery in Unicoi County. The family will receive friends in the funeral home from 1 to 2 PM Thursday prior to the service. Everyone will then travel in procession to the cemetery.
