Larry Eugene Rogers

November 27, 1938 — December 20, 2022

Larry Eugene Rogers, 84 of Johnson City, died on Tuesday, December 20, 2022 at his residence. He was a native of Greensboro, NC, son of the late Frank James Rogers, II and Mildred Wolf Rogers.


Larry attended Wake Forest on a football scholarship had to serve his country in the U. S. Army then returned to school in Guilford College in Greensboro for his BA then attended Law School in Texas.


He was a a prosecutor then spent most of his career as a defense attorney.


Larry was a Methodist.


He enjoyed bar-b-cueing and cooking. He was most happy making other people happy. Larry also enjoyed music; country to opera.


He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Gerry, Jimmy, Jr. and Donald.


Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Nancy Fernandez Rogers; sons, Shane Rogers, Lawrence Davis; Shawn Truesdale (Chalissa) and daughter, Nicole Smith; four grandchildren, Samantha Smith, Cayson, Colin and Caiden Truesdale; a special sister-in-law, Emma Rogers and a special cousin, Donna.


There is to be a graveside service in the Forest Lawn Cemetery in Greensboro on Wednesday, December 28th, 2022. The family will receive friends prior at 10:00 am at the Forbis and Dick Funeral Services, Downtown on North Elm Street, Greensboro, NC.


Memorials may be made to the Miami Lighthouse for the Blind, 601 SW 8th Avenue, Miami, FL 33130.
