Larry Houston

Larry Houston, 62, Gate City, VA, passed away Thursday, April 30, 2015 at his home. He was a Johnson City native and son of the late Ronald Sydney and Savannah Adkins Houston. Larry was a route salesman with Frito-Lay and an avid fan and collector of all things Pepsi. He attended Pilgrim Independent Baptist and Temple Baptist Church. Larry also was a member of Gideons International. Larry loved working on cars, especially his 1955 Studebaker, ?Studly' Through Larry?s yearlong fight against cancer, he never lost his sense of humor. He never met a stranger and laughter surrounded him. In addition to his parents, one brother, Ladeheau, and one sister, Grady, preceded Larry in death. Survivors include: his wife, Cathy Strong Houston? four children, Angee Lee and her husband William, Matthew Houston and his wife Julie, Joshua Houston, and Sara Stewart and her husband Andy? four grandchildren, Savannah, Dillon, Jasmine, and Emma? and several nephews and a niece. The family of Larry Houston will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Monday, May 4, 2015, at Morris-Baker Funeral Home. The funeral will follow at 7:00 PM Monday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Eddie Smith officiating. Pallbearers will be: William Lee, Andy Stewart, Rick Houston, Douglas Houston, Chuck Proffitt, and Dave Dooley. Graveside services for Mr. Houston will be conducted 5:30 pm Tuesday in the Houston family cemetery. Family and friends are asked to meet at Morris-Baker by 5:00 pm Tuesday to go in procession to the cemetery.
