Laurinda Ruth Booher

February 22, 1928 — August 30, 2007

Ruth Booher, 79, of 468 Baywood Drive, Piney Flats, died Thursday, August 30, 2007 at the NHC Health Care Center of Johnson City. She was a native of Sullivan County, daughter of the late, Joseph and Susie Swift Fenner. Ruth was a homemaker and member of the Edgefield United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Rev. Virgel Booher, two brothers and three sisters. Having been a ministers wife for fifty years, she was a member at one time or another of several different United Methodist churches. She had been at Edgefield UMC since 1992. Ruth loved making a home for her husband and children. Survivors include: a son, Charles Booher of Bluff City; a daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Chad Kelley of Johnson City; a grandson, Austin Booher, of Fort Drum, New York; three granddaughters, Kelly, Taylor and Katie; four great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; several nieces and nephews. A funeral service is scheduled for Sunday, September 2, 2007 at 4:00 p.m. at the Edgefield United Methodist Church, under the direction of Rev. Estel Williams and Rev. Homer Roller. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until time of service at four. Burial will follow in the Edgefield Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Robert Kelley, Barry Redman, Mike Berry, Bill Smith, John Smith, Cecil McGlamery and Norman Miller. Memorials may be made to: the Edgefield UMC general fund, Pickens Bridge Road, Piney Flats, TN 37686.
