Lena Maggio Mullins

Lena Maggio Mullins, 85, passed away Friday, October 5, 2007, at the Johnson City Medical Center, following a lengthy illness. Mrs. Mullins was a native of Greenville, Mississippi, and had lived most of her life in Johnson City. She was a daughter of the late Frank John Maggio and Rose Piraro Maggio originally from Cefalu, Sicily. Mrs. Mullins was preceded in death by her husband Rolfe C. Mullins and one son Michael Gerard Mullins, one brother and two sisters. She was an active and long time member of St. Marys Catholic Church. Mrs. Mullins was a member of the Rosary Altar Society and was active in the development and support of St. Marys School on the hill and the continued growth of St. Marys Church. Mrs. Mullins and her late husband, Rolfe C. Mullins owned and operated Rolfes Cafeteria in Johnson City for 34 years with other locations in Greeneville and Knoxville. Survivors include five children, Carole Ann Mullins Strohm and her husband, Bill, Johnson City, Barbara Rose Mullins Chitwood and her husband, Keith, Lawrenceville, GA, Rolfe Anthony Mullins and his wife, Mary, Johnson City, Tollie Mullins and his wife, Donna, Knoxville, and Revonne Mullins Gibson and her husband, Chuck, Knoxville; one daughter-in-law, Martha Garber Mullins, Knoxville; one brother, Sammy Maggio, Jackson, Mississippi; fifteen grandchildren, Lori Strohm Arthur, Bill Strohm, Traci Strohm, Courtney Chitwood Ondre, Angela Chitwood Graham, Brandon Chitwood, Jonathan Mullins, Allison Mullins Shepherd, Jordan Mullins, Valerie Mullins Powers, Christopher Mullins, Julie Mullins, Brianne Gibson, Tyler Gibson, and Brittney Gibson; ten great grandchildren, Ashley Arthur, Matthew Arthur, Alex Strohm, Kade Ondre, Xavier Ondre, Caralena Ondre, Mitchell Graham, Ashton Graham, Laura Powers, Lily Powers and numerous nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Mullins will be celebrated at 10 AM Tuesday, October 9, 2007, at St. Marys Catholic Church. Father Bill Gahagan will be the celebrant. Committal services will follow at Monte Vista Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Bill Strohm, Brandon Chitwood, Christopher Mullins, Jonathan Mullins, Jordan Mullins, Tyler Gibson, Chris Arthur, Steven Ondre, Michael Graham, Brant Shepherd and Michael Powers. The family will receive friends from 5-7 PM Monday followed by a Prayer and Rosary Service at St. Marys. In lieu of flowers, for those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, P.O. Box 318, Memphis, TN 38101.
