Lester Anthon Scott

November 16, 1935 — July 13, 2005

Lester Anthon Scott, 69, of Unicoi, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, July 13, 2005 at the Johnson City Medical Center. He was a native of MacDowell County, West Virginia, but was raised in Watauga, Tn., retired in Unicoi and lived most of his life in Florida. He was the son of the late Anthon and Onis Willis Scott. Mr. Scott was a retired roofer and served in the U.S Marines. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Virgil and Wallace Scott and two sisters, Doris Blackburn and Virginia Peters. Survivors include his wife, Wanda Scott of the home, a daughter, Valerie Scott (& John Lester) Armstrong of Welaka, Florida; two sisters, Margaret Calhoun and Maude (& Lonzo ) Stamper all of Johnson City; a brother, Luke (& Marie) Scott of Jonesborough,Tn.; four grandchildren, Jonathan Armstrong, Amber Steward, Jamie Armstrong and Jesse Armstrong; nephews, Phil (& Dreama ) Persinger, Steve (& Beth ) Yeatman, Jr., Phillip (& Julie ) Yeatman, and nieces, Denise Dunleavy and Joan Calhoun and many more special nieces and nephews. A special great niece, Brittany Persinger and many more great nieces and nephews. A funeral service is scheduled for Sunday, July 17, 2005 at 8:00 p.m. in the South Chapel of the Morris - Baker Funeral Home, under the direction of Rev. David Tysinger and Rev. Charlie Trivett. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8: 00 p.m. A committal service will be conducted on Monday, July 18, 2005 in the Monte Vista Memorial Park at 11:00 a.m. with military honors provided by the VFW #3382 of Kingsport. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the funeral home by 10:15 AM to leave in procession to the cemetery. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.
