Lester John Cartwright, Jr

Kingsport - Lester John Cartwright Jr. went to be with our Heavenly Father on Wednesday, May 25, 2016 surrounded by his family. He was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, drafted in the Vietnam War, and proudly continued his service to his country and retired as a Master Sergeant from the United States Army. After retirement from the military, he continued to work for civil service until a final employment at Mountain Home VA Medical Center in Johnson City, Tennessee. He has been a resident of Kingsport since 1996. He is preceded in death by: his parents, Lester John Cartwright Sr. and Marilyn Virginia Cartwright. Lester is survived by: his wife, Yu Hsing; his daughters, Christine Cartwright (Redentor Babb) and Sheila Wilson (Jared Wilson); his grandsons, Zachariah Cartwright Babb, Andraez Santiago Babb, and Gabriel Cartwright Wilson; his brother William D. Cartwright, his wife Bonita, and their children Christy, Joe, and Alan; his youngest brother James A. Cartwright, his wife Sharon, and their children Courtney and Jason; and his only sister, Karen K. Cartwright and her daughter Katherine. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Asbury Place in Kingsport for their excellent care, compassion, and support. Also, Mrs. Cartwright would like to thank Gayle Hawley for her wonderful service towards her and her husband during this difficult time. The family of Lester Cartwright will receive friends from 11:30 AM until 1:30 PM Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at Morris-Baker. The funeral service will follow at 1:30 PM with Mr. Thomas Arbaugh officiating. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. A committal service will immediately follow at Mountain Home National Cemetery. Boone Dam VFW Post # 4933 will be providing military honors.
