Lockey D. Pryor

Mrs. Lockey D. Pryor, age 85, of Johnson City, passed away December 27, 2012, at her residence. Mrs. Pryor was a native of Sparta, Tennessee but lived in Knoxville, Tennessee until her marriage. She was the daughter of the late Rev. Woods L. Bryant and Annie McBell Bryant. In addition to her parents, her husband, Amos Pryor; one son, John Kevin Pryor; one brother, Vernon 'Jake'? Marion Bryant; one sister-in-law, Edna Bryant also preceded her in death. Mrs. Pryor graduated from the former Steed College in Johnson City, and started her career as a secretary for General Electric Supply Company in Johnson City. She was promoted to manager of GE Supply in Johnson City, making her the first female manager of any GE Supply in the United States. She won numerous awards and recognitions for her thirty-three years of service to the company. She was a member of the East Pine Grove Park United Methodist Church. Survivors include one niece, Carolyn Hurst and her husband Victor; a number of very special friends and neighbors. The graveside committal service for Mrs. Lockey D. Pryor will be conducted at 2:30 PM Wednesday January 2, 2013, in the Monte Vista Memorial Park. Pastor Lon Tobin will officiate. Active pallbearers will be Wayne Bradford, Jeremy Hobson, Will Hobson, Jim Yelton, Victor Hurst and Greg Harris, Sr. Honorary pallbearer will be Farrell Cloyd. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 PM Wednesday at the funeral home prior to the service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Holston Home for Children, 404 Holston Drive, Greeneville, Tn. 37743 or East Pine Grove Park United Methodist Church, P O Box 1992, Johnson City, Tn. 37605.
