Louise Crumley Curtis, 94, of Piney Flats died February 8, 2018 at Johnson City Medical Center. She was born January 2, 1924 in Washington County, the daughter of George Luther Crumley and Martha Nave Crumley Hatley. She worked in retail as a buyer for King?s, Brit?s, and Belk department stores. Mrs. Curtis was preceded in death by her husband, John Clifton Curtis, after 66 years of marriage; by two brothers, James Crumley and Billy Joe Hatley; and an infant great-great granddaughter, Stephanie Elaine Lewis. Survivors include: two daughters, Martha Lewis and her husband, Ed of Salisbury NC, and Patricia Davis and her husband, Jerry of Piney Flats; five grandchildren, Stephen Lewis and his wife Mary Ellen Huckabee of Atlanta, GA, Melanie Burton and her husband, Scott of Salisbury, NC, Mark Lewis and his wife, Julie of Wilmington, NC, Jody Davis and his wife, Marlene of Knoxville, TN, and Crista Austin and her husband, Drew of Gray, TN; twelve great-grandchildren, Caroline and Charlotte Lewis, Roarke, Meredith, Kate and Sawyer Burton, and Lola Lewis, Tori Davis and Dylan Davidson, and Chase, Max and Trey Austin; and one half-sister, Sarah Crumley Walters. The graveside service for Mrs. Curtis will be conducted by the Reverend Dr. S. Edwin Lewis at Monte Vista Memorial Park on February 10, 2018 at 3:00 PM. Family and friends are asked to gather at the graveside by 2:45 PM. The eulogy will be delivered by Crista Austin and music will be presented by Charles Whitehead. The grandsons and Lynn Barnes will serve as pallbearers.
