Louise Kirkland Medley

Louise Kirkland Medley, 70, Johnson City, died Saturday, August 8, 2015, at NHC Healthcare, Johnson City. She was a Des Moines, Iowa native who retired to Johnson City after many years in Alabama. She was the daughter of the late Eugene and Dorothy Plumb Kirkland. Mrs. Medley received her Bachelor?s degree from Iowa State University, where she was a member of Gamma Phi Beta, and her Master?s Degree from the University of Alabama. She was an elementary school teacher. Mrs. Medley was a member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Bristol, Virginia, where she was a member of the choir and of the Order of the Daughters of the King. Survivors include: her husband of over forty-seven years, Jerry Medley, of the home; daughter, Dr. Meredith Kirkpatrick, and her husband Dr. James Kirkpatrick III, Johnson City; two grand daughters, Emily and Eloise Kirkpatrick; and brother, William Kirkland II, Montgomery, AL. The family extends their special thanks to the staff of NHC Healthcare for their compassionate and professional care of Mrs. Medley. The family of Louise Kirkland Medley will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 pm Thursday, August 13, 2015 at Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Bristol, Virginia. The funeral service will follow at 7:00 pm in the church sanctuary with The Rev. Joe K. Dunagan officiating. Graveside services will be conducted 2:30 pm Friday at the U.S. National Cemetery, Mountain Home. Family and friends are asked to meet at Morris-Baker Funeral Home by 2:00 pm Friday to go in procession to the cemetery for those services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Emmanuel Episcopal Church, PO Box 1376, Bristol, VA 24203.
