Lynn Arthur Feathers

Lynn Arthur Feathers, 91, of Johnson City, TN died Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at his residence following an illness. He was a native of Johnson City, son of the late Ezra Lee and Nannie McKinley Cox Feathers. Lynn was a veteran of WWII, having served in the U. S. Army 3218th Signal Service Company while stationed in the European Theatre. He was a proud graduate of the University of Tennessee, and subsequently worked as an Electrical Engineer for Philco-Ford in Philadelphia, PA, as well as General Instrument Corp. in Chicopee, MA and El Paso, TX. A longtime and very active member of Central Baptist Church, he enjoyed his participation in the J.O.Y. choir, benevolence committee, visitation, and as a bell ringer for the Salvation Army. Other interests include rose gardening, woodworking, golf, and travel. He and his wife had traveled extensively throughout the U.S., visiting life-long friends as part of the journey. The last major trip taken by Lynn and Eva Jean was a tour through several European countries, culminating with attendance at the Passion Play in Oberammergau, Germany, which was a highlight of the trip. In addition to his parents, his wife Eva Jean Corzine Feathers, three brothers, Lee, Lawrence and Lonnie Feathers and a sister, Lois Fuller, preceded him in death. Survivors include: three sons and two daughters-in-law, Eric Feathers of Arlington, TX, Scott and Cindy Feathers of Fairburn, GA, Craig Feathers and Amy Kolan of Northfield, MN; two daughters and sons-in-law, Janelle and Doug Clark of Stone Mountain, GA, Valerie and Ken Beam of Garland, TX; a brother, Louis Feathers of Scottsdale, AZ; a sister and brother-in-law, Loretta and Ted Wilson of Smyrna, GA; four grandchildren, Kim Brusch, Brock (and wife Hollie) Feathers, Aleta Kolan and Tessa Kolan; a great-granddaughter, Jolie Brusch; several nieces and nephews; and special friend Kathy Bench. A funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, October 19, 2013 at 2:00 pm at Central Baptist Church under the direction of Rev. Gene Elliott. The family will receive friends from 12:30 pm until time of service at 2:00 pm. A committal service will be conducted in the Washington County Memory Gardens following the funeral service. Active pallbearers will be: members of the family. Honorary pallbearers will be: members of the William Rigell Sunday School class at Central Baptist Church and Robert Webster. Lynn touched many lives and will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate to know him. He will be remembered for his sweet and gentle spirit, dry sense of humor, that twinkle in his eye, and his never-ending need to take care of those around him.
