Magretha Y. White

January 29, 1951 — April 12, 2006

Magretha Y. White, 55, 102 Heritage Court, Jonesborough, has gone to be with her Saviour on Wednesday, April 12, 2006 at the Johnson City Medical Center. Mrs. White was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County. She was a daughter of Susie Hopson, Johnson City and the late Earl M. Hawkins. Her stepfather, Jack Hopson, preceded Mrs. White in death. She was an employee of Amsouth Bank. Mrs. White was a member of Snow Memorial Baptist Church and a volunteer with the American Cancer Society. In addition to her mother, Mrs. White is survived by her husband, Jim White; one son, Tom Peters, Johnson City; one daughter, April Radford, Elizabethton; one sister, Pat Barnett, Johnson City; three grandsons, Jake, Zach and Mitch; one step-brother, Bill Hopson, Greeneville and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service for Mrs. White will be conducted at 8 PM Friday, April 14, 2006 from the Morris-Baker Funeral Home South Chapel. Reverend Albert Bentley and Reverend John Perkins will officiate. Graveside services will be held at 11 AM Saturday at Monte Vista Memorial Park. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the funeral home at 10:30 AM and travel in procession to the cemetery. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be the staff and physicians at the Cancer Outreach Center. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 508 Princeton Road, Johnson City, TN 37601. The family offers a special thanks to Mrs. White?s caring friends and fellow employees of Amsouth Bank.
