Malcolm Crouch "Mac" Minor

October 22, 1937 — June 13, 2020

As the sun rises and sets in all things, Malcolm “Mac” Crouch Minor entered our world on October 22, 1937 and peacefully departed Saturday, June 13, 2020.

Mac was born and raised in Northern Virginia where he grew up and attended Washington & Lee High School. Over time, Mac’s skills were honed professionally as an electrical and mechanical engineering design draftsman working for the Bechdon Company (an aerospace, defense, commercial, and industrial manufacturing company) from November 23, 1981 until he retired on November 23, 2001. At retirement, The Bechdon president wrote “your mechanical concepts, design and engineering have significantly contributed to Bechdon’s reputation as a full-service shop to our customers. We sincerely thank you.”

Mac met his first wife in the late 1950s, fell in love and together they shared in the joy and labor of raising nine children... a whirlwind of adventure followed. As life holds no promise and is often filled with trials and triumphs, Mac found love again in 1981. Mac married Eileen, his wife of 38 years. Outside of work, Mac loved working on cars, riding his motorcycle, and traveling. In his final chapters, Mac and Eileen settled in Johnson City, Tennessee with their two dogs. The remaining years of Mac’s life were filled with the love of family and friends, and he left behind an enormously large family tree.

As Mac moves forward to embrace his next adventure, he will be welcomed into eternity by family and friends who preceded him in death: His dad and mom, Francis Ward Minor and Sophia Crouch Minor; along with two siblings; Ralph Evan Minor and Mary Carolyn Minor; and there to welcome “PawPaw Mac”, grandson, Mitchell Lee Minor, who succumbed to his own life struggles earlier this year.

Saying goodbye is hard but not forever: Mac is survived by his wife, Leona Eileen Minor; as well as the mother of his children, Mary Louise Martz Minor; youngest sister and close friend, Annette Sorah. Mac’s message to his children before he passed was that “he loved them all”; Mac’s children are Craig Lynn Minor and wife Carrie, Kimberly Ann Johnson and husband Mike, Kathleen Marie Turner and husband Mark, Kelly Deanne McBride and husband Shawn, Michele Louise Fatland (Minor), Glenn Martz Minor, Patrick Wayne Minor, Mary Louise Minor, Jr., and Terrence Vincent Minor and his Michelle.

Mac’s family tree continues to branch out with: thirty grandchildren, Craig Minor’s children, Taylor Minor, Grace (Minor) Becknell, Mitchell Minor (deceased), and Levi Minor; Kimberly Ann Johnson’s children, Michael Johnson, Matthew Johnson, Rachel (Johnson) Bentley, Andrew Johnson; Kathleen Turner’s children, Daniel Stumpff , Sarah (Stumpff) Button, Jacob Turner; Kelly McBride’s children, Dustin Clark, Richelle (Clark) Pittman, Christian Clark, Samuel Clark, Ashley Clark-Young; Michelle Fatland’s children, Melissa Myers, Joseph Myers, and Christopher Myers; Glenn Minor’s children, Glenn Minor Jr., Shane Minor, Nathan Minor, Kyle Minor, and Amber (Minor) Valentine; Patrick Minor’s children, Tayler Graham and Erin Graham; Mary Lou Minor Jr’s children, Sheigh Minor, Anna Scherzinger, and Isaiah Scherzinger; Terrance Minor’s child, Aidan Minor; thirty great-grandchildren, Taylor Minor’s children, Emma, Madeline, Paige and Victoria Minor; Grace Becknell’s children, Anna, Lucy, and Miles Becknell; Levi Minor’s children, Lincoln and Creighton Minor; Michael Johnson’s children, Blake, Hayden Johnson; Daniel Stumpff’s children, Alley, Kendra, and William Stumpff; Sarah Stumpff’s child, Charlotte Button; Dustin Clark’s children, Emanuel, Sophie, and Betsy Clark; Richelle Pittman’s children, Adelaide, Harper, Violet, and Wright Pittman; Sam Clark’s child, John-Wiley Clark; Ashley Clark-Young’s child, Hazel Young; Amber Valentine’s child, Aaliyah Valentine; Erin Graham’s child, Trinity Graham; Sheigh Minor’s child, Aubrielle Minor; great-great grandchild, Alley Stumpff’s child, Bradley Staley.
