Manford Lee

November 13, 1926 — September 14, 2006

Manford Lee, Jr. 79, of 325 Bennett Road, Jonesborough, died Thursday, September 14, 2005 at the Johnson City Medical Center. He was a native of Alva, Kentucky, son of the late Manford and Fannie Saylor Lee. Manford was a veteran of WWII having served in the U. S. Navy on the USS Cread stationed out of Guantanamo Bay. He was a retired supervisor for GMAC and had been a Principal and coach at the Mulberry Gap High School in Hancock County. Manford was 45 year member of the Central Baptist Church, attended the Ted Beach couples class and was in the Senior Adult Choir. He also belonged to the Metro Kiwanis Club for 43 years, was a past President 72-73 and had a 40 year perfect attendance record. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by: two brothers, Charles and Billy Lee and a sister, Velma Harrell. Survivors include: his wife, Ann Rice Lee of the home; two sons, Chris (& his wife Debbie) Lee of Johnson City and Jeff Lee of Jonesborough; a step-son, David Swanzy of Copper Mountain, Colorado and a step-daughter, Elizabeth Isemann of Grand Saline, Texas; four brothers, Dennis Lee of Morristown, Bobby Lee of Dayton, Ohio, Lewey Lee of Wise, Virginia and Don Lee of Ewing, Virginia; five sisters, Faye Monday of Brookeville, Indiana, Geneva Neal of Rose Hill,Virginia, Joy Radvansky of Mentor by the Lake, Ohio, Ruth Lee of Centerville, Ohio and Lois Bailey of Ewing, Virginia; three grandchildren, Josh Lee, Sara Lee and Whitney Lee; a step-granddaughter, Emily Isemann; numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, September 16, 2006 at 6:00 p.m. at the Central Baptist Church under the direction of Rev. Bill Warfield. The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the church. A committal service will be conducted on Sunday, September 17, 2006 at the Lee Family Cemetery, Rose Hill, VA at 2:00 p.m. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the cemetery. Active pallbearers will be: brothers, sons and grandson: honorary pallbearers will be: the Metro Kiwanis Club and members of the Ted Beach Sunday School Class. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in the form of contributions to the Central Baptist Church Music Mininstry, 300 N. Roan Street, Johnson City, TN 37601.
