Manuel Ernest 'Mutt' Dillow Jr., age 87, of Johnson City, died Wednesday, August 31, 2005, in Johnson City. Mr. Dillow was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County and a son of the late Manuel E. Dillow Sr. and Mary Ann Maupin Dillow. Mr. Dillow was a retired employee of Holston Defense in Kingsport with 34 years of service. He was a member of the East Unaka Christian Church. Mr. Dillow served in the Army during World War II in the Pacific Campaign. He was also a member of the Sinking Creek Lodge #575 F and A.M. of Gray. Survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Manuel E. 'Mickey' Dillow III and Paula Dillow, of Gray; four grandchildren, Dawn Sutherland and Danielle Dillow, both of Colorado Springs, CO, Angela Bates, of Apex, NC, and Michael Dillow, of Gray; four great grandchildren, Justin Sutherland, Mary Beth Sutherland, Landon Sutherland and Hailey Jackson. A very special cousin and friend of the family, Lynn Hodge, and several other cousins also survive. The funeral service for Manuel E. 'Mutt' Dillow Jr. will be conducted at 2 PM Saturday, September 3, 2005, in the Morris-Baker North Chapel. Mr. Wayne Emory, Minister, will officiate. Interment will follow in the Boones Creek Christian Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Shipley, L.D. Alexander, Billy Carter and Niles Hodge. The family will receive friends in the funeral chapel from 1 to 2 PM Saturday prior to the service.
