Marcia Denise Kenny

Marcia D. Kenny, 49, of Johnson City passed away Sunday, May 16, 2010 in Vass, North Carolina of natural causes while taking care of her ailing mother. Mrs. Kenny was a native of LaFollette, Tennessee and a daughter of Sara Jean Hollingsworth Chaniott of Vass, NC and the late William R. Chaniott. She was a graduate of East Tennessee State University and worked on campus in the Womens Resource Center. Mrs. Kenny was an active member of St. Marys Catholic Church and the JPIC. Marcia was also an animal and nature lover, an avid reader and a wonderful, caring wife and mother. In addition to her father she is preceded in death by an infant sister, Beverly Jean Chaniott. Survivors in addition to her mother include: her husband, Louis M. Kenny of the home; two sons, Brendan Kenny and wife Erica of Huntsville, AL and Kevin Kenny of Johnson City; two daughters, Monica Kenny of Brooklyn, NY and Sarah Kenny of Johnson City; two brothers, Wayne Chaniott and Neal Chaniott, both of Norris, TN; one sister, Pam Higdon and husband Sam of Vass, NC; one granddaughter, Alexis Grace Kenny of Dayton, TN; several nieces, nephews and friends also survive. The family of Marcia D. Kenny will receive friends from 5 to 7 PM Thursday, May 20, 2010 at St. Marys Catholic Church. A funeral mass will be conducted on Friday, May 21, 2010 at 11 AM in St. Marys Catholic Church. Father Anietie Akata and Father William Gahagan will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to St. Vincent DePaul of St. Marys Catholic Church, 2211 E. Lakeview Drive, Johnson City, TN 37601
