Margaret Anne Byrd Huffman

Margaret Anne Byrd Huffman, 90, of Limestone, died June 25, 2016 at Cornerstone Village in Johnson City. Margaret Anne was a native of Johnson City and a lifelong resident of Washington County. She lived all 62 years of her married life in Limestone. She lived at Cornerstone Village (formerly Appalachian Christian Village) the past several years. She was the daughter of Richard M. and Allie Ruble Byrd of Johnson City. Mr. Byrd owned and managed Byrd?s Welding and Radiator Shop on West Market Street. She was a graduate of Henry Johnson Elementary School, Science Hill High School, and East Tennessee State College (now University). For many years, she taught in the Washington County School System at West View Elementary School in Limestone. She was a long-time member of Limestone United Methodist Church, the Limestone Garden Club, and the Washington County Home Demonstration Club. She loved her family and making a home for them; she enjoyed cooking, traveling, and the mountains. Margaret Anne was preceded in death by: her parents, in 1980; husband, Carrol S. Huffman, in 2010; son, Richard S. Huffman, in 1970; one sister, Betty Jean Byrd, who died at birth in 1927. Survivors include: her daughter, Suzanne Huffman and son-in-law August Schilling, of Southlake, TX; many cousins and extended family and friends also survive. The family would like to express their heart-felt appreciation to the wonderful staff of Johnson City Medical Center and Cornerstone Village for their skill and kindness and care. The family wishes to thank special caregiver, Candice Gaddy, for extraordinarily tender care, love and respect for Margaret Anne in her final years. Margaret Anne will be buried at Urbana Cemetery in Limestone in a private service.
