Margaret Berry Lay

Margaret B. Lay, 85, of 1603 Burgie Street, Elizabethton, passed away Saturday, December 9, 2006 at the Appalachian Christian Village. She was a daughter of the late Charles and Florence Miller Berry. She was a native of Johnson City and lived in Elizabethton the past 33 years. Mrs. Lay was also preceded in death by two husbands, Jesse E. Pierson and Everette C. Lay. She was also preceded by one daughter, one sister, three brothers and several grandchildren. Mrs. Lay was a member of Milligan Free Will Baptist Church. Survivors include; three daughters, Wanda Cretsinger, Johnson City, Barbara J. King, Elizabethton and Karen Lyons of Bluff City; one son, Ronald Pierson, Sr., Johnson City; four sisters, Pauline Pierce, Marilyn Thornburg, Zola Bailey and Lucille Cooper all of Johnson City; 18 Grandchildren, 26 Great Grandchildren, 1 Great Great Grandchild and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 8:00 PM Tuesday from the Morris-Baker North Chapel. Rev. Mark Street will officiate. Burial services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Wednesday from Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Family and friends will meet at the funeral home by 10:30 AM Wednesday and proceed to the cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Tuesday. The family would like to extend a special thank-you, to Appalachian Village, for their special care, especially Hazel.
