Margaret Jean Snapp

March 26, 1942 — March 18, 2014

Mrs. Margaret Hodge Snapp, age 71, of Piney Flats, passed away Tuesday, March 18, 2014 in the Johnson City Medical Center. Mrs. Snapp was a lifelong resident of the Tri-Cities area. She was the daughter of the late Thomas Vernon and Fairlena Fraizer Hodge. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandson, James Bailey; sister, Jane Carrier; and brother, Jim Hodge. She was a member of New Bethel Presbyterian Church. Margaret was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She was an avid gardener and appreciated the natural beauty of flowers. She also enjoyed studying the Bible and reading or listening to books. She was a friend to all creatures, and took in many animals over the years. Margaret loved the mountains, as well as the beach. She found great joy in helping others. Survivors include: her husband of 52 years, James Snapp; three children, Melissa Gent and her husband Roger, Carolyn Carrier and her husband Tim, and Jamie Snapp and his wife Erin; six grandchildren, Courtney Massey and her husband James, Levi Gent and his wife Michelle, Ethan Carrier, Kaden Grayer, and Sydney & Breece Snapp; one sister, Geraldine 'Gerri'? Wilson and her husband Jack; and several nieces. The family of Mrs. Margaret Snapp will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Friday, March 21, 2014 in the Morris-Baker South Chapel. The funeral service will follow in the South Chapel at 8 PM. Rev. Eric Spoon will officiate. The committal service will be conducted at 11 AM Saturday, March 22, 2014 in the New Bethel Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Piney Flats. Active pallbearers will be: Tim Carrier, Ethan Carrier, James Massey, Steve King, Harley Carrier, and Jerry Dempsey. Honorary pallbearer will be Dwight King. Minister, family, and friends are requested to meet at the cemetery by 11 AM Saturday for those services. In lieu of flowers, the Snapp family requests memorial donations to: Audio Bibles for the Blind, P.O. Box 1061, Bradenton, FL 34206; the food pantry at New Bethel Presbyterian Church, 592 New Bethel Rd, Piney Flats, TN 37686; or Haven of Rest Rescue Mission, 624 Anderson St, Bristol, TN 37620.
