M. Louise Martin, 86, Piney Flats died Friday, March 20, 2009 in Piney Flats. Mrs. Martin was a native and lifelong resident of Sullivan County. She was a daughter of the late Robert Lee and Vona Mae Jeter Oliver. Her husband, John Herbert Martin, two sisters, Geraline Brumit and Lula Belle Hammer; one brother, John Oliver and a son-in-law, Richard Hardin, preceded Mrs. Martin in death. She was a member of Edgefield United Methodist Church since 1934, a Sunday School teacher for over fifty years, the WSCS Treasurer for many years and the worship coordinator for numerous years. Survivors include one daughter, Nora Martin Hardin, Elizabethton; one son, Joseph D. Martin and his wife, Judy, Lavernia, TX; six grandsons, Daniel Martin, Tom Martin, Tim Hardin, Matthew Todd Hardin, Clint McKinnie, Steve McKinnie; six great grandchildren, Levi Hardin, Benjamin Hardin, Kara McKinnie, Dylan McKinnie, Ethan McKinnie and Joshua McKinnie; three brothers, James Alfred Oliver, Piney Flats, Robert Aaron Oliver, Jonesborough and George Ryland Oliver, FL; one sister, Carolyn Gray, Jonesborough; a special friend, Ella Burton and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service for Mrs. Martin will be conducted at 7:30 pm Monday, March 23, 2009 from the Morris-Baker Funeral Home South Chapel. Reverend Estel Williams and Reverend Mack Houston will officiate. Nancy McGlamery and Annette Gross will provide music. Graveside services will be held at 11 am Tuesday at Edgefield Cemetery, Piney Flats. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the funeral home at 10:30 am and travel in procession to the cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Joe Brumit, Mike Oliver, John Oliver, Jimmy Oliver, Bobby Oliver, Ronnie Martin, David McGlamery, Jimmy Martin and Buford Stone. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Edgefield United Methodist Church Junior Sunday School Class. The family will receive friends from 5-7:30 pm Monday at the funeral home and at other times at the home of her brother, James Alfred Oliver, 6468 Hwy 11E, Piney Flats. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Edgefield United Methodist Church Building Fund, 745 Pickens Bridge Road, Piney Flats, TN 37686.
