Margaret Lucille Black

November 21, 1935 — September 10, 2005

Margaret Lucille Stevens Black, of 305 Lisa Lane, Piney Flats ,TN was called home to the Lord Saturday, September 10, 2005 at her residence after a courageous battle with cancer. Mrs. Black was a native of Washington County, TN and had lived in Piney Flats for the past thirty-seven years. As a girl Margaret lived in the Knob Creek area and attended the historic Oak Hill School. After marrying Carl P. Black in 1951 she traveled throughout the country, living in Arizona, California, Colorado, Louisiana, Virginia and Georgia before moving to Piney Flats to make her home. Margaret was an Avon Lady for 25 years and was a member of the Presidents Club. She loved being a homemaker, and enjoyed gardening, writing poetry, antiques, and Elvis Presley. She was a loving wife, mother, mamaw, and great grandmother. She was a great beauty and an unforgettable lady with a wonderful sense of humor. Our sweet and precious angel was much loved and will be sorely missed. She will be reunited in Heaven with her mother Pauline Oliver Stevens, her brother John Stevens, and her grandson Justin Bailey. She was a member of the Knob Creek Brethren Church. Left to mourn are: her husband of fifty-four years, Carl P. Black of the home; her father, Clyde Stevens, Sr. of Johnson City; her daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Dennis Mullins; three sons, Rick Black and wife Karen, Randy Black, Ronnie Black and wife Leigh Ann; three granddaughters, Shannon Yates, Jennifer Black, and Jordan Black; four grandsons, Jason Bailey, Matthew Black, Jeremy Black, and Bobby Black; two great grandchildren, Coco Oudom and Austin Black; her sister and Brother-in-law, Kathy and Kevin Kay; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Clyde and Annie Mae Stevens, Jr, Harold and Marilyn Stevens, Sam and Karen Stevens, Gary and Diane Stevens. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews and many extended family members and special friends. The funeral service for Margaret Lucille Stevens Black will be conducted Monday, September 12, 2005 at 8 PM in the Morris-Baker South Chapel. Rev. Mack Houston will officiate. Music will be by the Stevens Sisters. The graveside service will be conducted Tuesday in the Mountain Home National Cemetery. Everyone will meet at the funeral home to go in procession to the cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Jason Bailey, Matthew Black, Jeremy Black and Bobby Black. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 PM Monday in the funeral chapel prior to the service. Friends may also visit at the residence at anytime.
