Margaret Mccartt Miller

Margaret Roberts McCartt Miller, age 81, of 164 Cedar Place Road, Johnson City, Tennessee, died Tuesday, November 28, 2006 at her residence. She was a native of Kannapolis, North Carolina but had lived in Johnson City since 1947. She had lived for several years in Lake Placid, Florida and for the past few years had spent her winters there. Mrs. Miller was the daughter of the late Carrie Redman Roberts and John W. Roberts. Mrs. Miller was a registered nurse having graduated from the Cabarrus County Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. She also attended East Tennessee State University. She was a member of National Association of Retired Federal Employees, AARP and American Legion Auxiliary, Unit 24. She was retired from Veterans Affairs Hospital at Mountain Home, Tennessee after 32 years of service. Mrs. Miller was a member of Berea Freewill Baptist Church. She enjoyed her bridge club and the friendships with the members of the club. She looked forward to Saturday nights and having dinner with her friends Patsy and Rachel. She also enjoyed special friendships with Debbie Tate and Gwen Dugger whom she considered like daughters and who were faithful to help with her care when she became ill.Preceding her in death were two husbands, Jack W. McCartt and Lloyd Y. Miller, one daughter, Linda McCartt Crews, one sister, Coralie Graber, a son-in-law, Jimmy R. Thomas and twin brothers, Ray W. Roberts and Ralph D. Roberts.Survivors are one son Jack W. McCartt and his wife Rhonda of Lantana, Florida; one daughter, Jane M. Thomas and her fianc? Brady Hughes of Johnson City; grandchildren, Jonathan Thomas, Jocelyn 'Jo' Thomas both of Johnson City, Amy McCartt and Brooke McCartt of Lantana, Florida. Funeral services for Mrs. Miller will be held Thursday, November 30, 2006 at Morris-Baker Funeral Home North Chapel. Rev. Jerry Stout will officiate. Gwen Dugger will be the soloist. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Thursday. Friday at 10:30 AM, friends will meet at the funeral home to go in procession to Monte Vista for graveside services and burial at 11:00 AM. Pallbearers are: Carson Tate, Dustin Whitaker, Bill Strickland, Michael Thomas, Jon Thomas, Steve Cross, Chazz Hughes and Brady Hughes. Honorary pallbearers are Gary Dugger and Jim Harmon. The family requests, for those who wish, memorial contributions be made to Berea Freewill Baptist Church, 2415 Sinking Creek Road, Johnson City, TN 37601
