Margaret O. Murray

Mrs. Margaret O. Murray, age 82, of Jonesborough, passed away Sunday, February 16, 2014, in the Johnson City Medical Center. Mrs. Murray was a native of Columbus, Georgia who had lived most of her life in Jonesborough. She was the daughter of the late Joseph Olin and Agnes Gertrude Carr Clemmons. In addition to her parents her first husband, James Earl VanDyke; second husband, Howard Murray; one brother, Myron Clemmons; one sister. Mary Clemmons also preceded her in death. Mrs. Murray was a graduate of East Tennessee State University. She retired from the VA Medical Center as a nurse. She was a member of Liberty Fellowship Church. Survivors include two sons, James Robert VanDyke and Kenneth Howard VanDyke and his wife Mimi; one daughter, Karen P. VanDyke; one sister, Geraldine King and her husband Jessie; three grandchildren, Erin Keene and her husband Seth, Ryan VanDyke and his wife Rebecca and Amanda VanDyke; four great grandchildren, Riley Keene, Piper Keene, Sean VanDyke and Shea VanDyke. The family of Mrs. Margaret O. Murray will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Wednesday, February 19, 2014, at Morris-Baker. The funeral service will follow at 8 PM in the Morris-Baker South Chapel. Rev. Dan Foster will officiate. The graveside committal service will be conducted at 11 AM Thursday in the Monte Vista Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Minister, family and friends are requested to meet at the funeral home by 10:30 AM Thursday to go in procession to the cemetery.
