Marlin W. Vance, age 66, of 2113 Seventh Ave., Johnson City, died Sunday, July 17, at Johnson City Medical Center. He was a native and lifelong resident of Johnson City, the son of the late Richard M. Vance and the late Clara Walters Vance. He was formerly employed for 38 years by Prescription Shop and Princeton Drugs. Mr. Vance was a member of Piney Grove Free Will Baptist Church. He had caddied at Johnson City Country Club when he was younger. His first wife, Linda Stinnett Vance, preceded him in death. He is survived by several stepchildren by his first wife: four step-sons, Jimmy Greer of Erwin, Billy Greer and his wife, Rose, of Alabama, Eddie Greer and Keith Greer, both of Johnson City; one stepdaughter, Lisa Terry and her husband, Doug, of Johnson City; several stepgrandchildren and great-grandchildren; four brothers, Harry Vance and his wife, Shirley, of Maryland, Glenn Vance and his wife, Ruth, of Michigan, Ralph Vance and special friend, Garnetta, of Michigan, Raymond Vance and his wife, Donnie Sue, of Gray; one sister, Mary Clay and her husband, Jimmy, of Johnson City; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mr. Vance will be held Wednesday at 8:00 PM at Piney Grove Free Will Baptist Church. Rev. Paul Crowe and Rev. Roy Jenkins will officiate. The family will receive friends at the church from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Wednesday. Family and friends will meet at the mausoleum at Monte Vista for entombment Thursday at 11:00 AM. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Clay, Blaine Ford, Eddie Greer, Keith Greer, Doug Terry and Glenn Hughes. Honorary pallbearers will be deacons, trustees and ushers of Piney Grove Free Will Baptist Church, employees of Princeton Drugs and West Town Pharmacy.
