Martha Jackson

Martha Walker Jackson, 94, 2114 Knollwood Circle, died Saturday, August 23, 2008 at her residence. Mrs. Jackson was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County. She was a daughter of the late David W. and Rosa Lee Livingston Walker. Mrs. Jackson was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 75 years, Cliner Jackson in 2004; her brother, Robert Walker, an infant brother and two infant sisters; three sons, Tony Jackson, Randy Jackson and Karloff Jackson and his wife Cinda; an infant great grandchild and three brothers-in-law. She retired in 1980 from the former Johnson City Memorial Hospital where she was employed as a C.N.A. Mrs. Jackson was a volunteer with the American Red Cross as a 'Gray Lady'? at the Johnson City Memorial Hospital. She was a member of the Johnson City Church of God. Mrs. Jackson leaves three children; Carmeleta Hankal and her husband, Bill, Jonesborough, Garey Jackson and his wife, Louella, Johnson City and Judy Howell and her husband, Steve, Johnson City; three sisters, Edith Carder and Idalee Kelsey both of Johnson City and Mary Emily Hoilman, Bakersville, NC; one brother, Mac L. Walker and his wife, Dorothy, Palm Coast, FL; twenty grandchildren, thirty-two great grandchildren and twelve great great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. A funeral service for Mrs. Jackson will be conducted at 2 PM Wednesday, August 27, 2008 from the Morris-Baker Funeral Home South Chapel. Reverend Richard Bawgus and Reverend David Jackson will officiate. Graveside services will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 1 PM until service time Wednesday at the funeral home.
