Mary Dugger

February 24, 1947 — August 21, 2008

Mary Dugger, 61, of 603 Carter Sells, Road, Johnson City, died Thursday, August 21, 2008, at her residence following an extended illness. A native of Washington County, she was a daughter of the late Geter and Pauline Greene. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, Jimmy; also a special sister in law, Eliza Hensley; a brother, Bobby Greene; and a sister, Patsy Stansberry. Mrs. Dugger was retired from James H. Quillen Veterans Hospital and ITT North Electric. She was a charter member of the River of Life Church, where she has many special friends and enjoyed attending as long as she was able. She is survived by a daughter, Karen King and her husband, Douglas, of Johnson City; also her most special and loving granddaughter, Whitney King; Four sisters, Dorothy Waller, of California, Brenda Hyatt and Penni Begley, of Johnson City, and Janis Torbett, of Jonesborough; a sister in law, Beverly, of Jonesborough; Very special friends, Doug and Barbara Jones. A funeral service for Mrs. Dugger will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. Friday from the Morris-Baker South Chapel. Pastor Donnie Humphrey and Pastor Ancel Presnell Jr. will officiate. Music will be by members of the River of Life Church. Pallbearers will be Brooks Torbett, Matthew Torbett, Mike Hensley, Allen Stewart, Charles Slagle Jr. and Ronnie Britt. Honorary pallbearers will be James Whitson, Ancel Presnell Sr., Jerry Whitson, Ronnie Carver, Danny Fair, Douglas Jones and Bob Boardwine. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in held in the Washington County Memory Gardens at 11:00 a.m. Saturday. A very special thanks to Dr. Punett Goenka, M.D., and his staff, Dr. Steven Smith, M.D., and all the staff at the Cancer Center at Johnson City Medical Center, and Dr. James Holt, M.D., and his staff.
