Mary Elizabeth Mccracken

Mary Elizabeth Johnson McCracken, age 89, of the Boones Creek community died Tuesday, November 7, 2006, at her home after an extended illness. She was a native of Asheville, NC, where she attended Blanton?s Business College and a former resident of Kingsport, TN. She was a daughter of the late Robert E. and Clara Dermid Johnson and a life long member of Boones Creek Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of forty years, Earl McCracken, a brother Robert Johnson, Jr., and a sister Margaret J. Johnson. She is survived by three children, a daughter Linda McCracken of Gray, TN; a son Michael E. McCracken and daughter-in-law Carol McCracken of Johnson City, TN; a son Thomas J. McCracken of Limestone, TN; three grandchildren, Elizabeth 'Libby' Whittington of N. Wilkesboro, NC, Michael McCracken of Fernandina Beach, FL, and Matthew McCracken of Johnson City; four great-grandchildren, Christopher Whittington and Brent Whittington both of N. Wilkesboro, NC, and Zachary McCracken and Mercedes McCracken of Johnson City; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the Morris-Baker North Chapel, Johnson City, TN. The funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm Friday with Evangelist Charles 'Toonie' Cash officiating. Entombment will follow in the Washington County Memory Gardens mausoleum. The family wishes to thank the staff of Medical Center Hospice Services for all their care and support as well as a special thanks to Charmaine Woodby-McCracken for her help in caring for our mother.
