Mary F. Poarch, age 69, Johnson City died Tuesday, August 25, 2009 at the Johnson City Medical Center. Mrs. Poarch was born in Cranberry, NC and had lived most of her life in Johnson City. She was a daughter of the late Ralph Brown, Sr. and Rexie Hughes Brown. She was also preceded in death by two brothers-in-law, J.R. Giles and Curtis Hurt, Sr. and her parents-in-law, Bert Poarch Sr. and Vena Poarch. Mrs. Poarch was a housewife, worked with ITT North in Gray and was a partner in many family businesses. She touched the lives of so many people. She was a member of the Tennessee Avenue Baptist Church in Bristol, TN. Survivors include her husband, William 'Bill'? H. Poarch, Sr.; three sons, Steve Poarch, Johnson City, Mike Hodge, Stoney Creek and Bill Poarch, Jr, Newport; three grandsons, Jonathan Poarch, Piney Flats, Christopher Poarch, Johnson City and Elijah Hodge, Stoney Creek; three brothers, Ralph Brown and his wife, Jeanette, Johnson City, Glenn Brown and his wife, June Milligan and Pete Brown and his wife, Patsy, Jonesborough; two sisters, Louise Giles, Jonesborough and Eula Mae Hurt, Johnson City; two daughters-in law, Jane Ann Poarch, Johnson City and Erica Hodge, Stoney Creek and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service for Mrs. Poarch will be conducted at 7 PM Thursday, August 26, 2009 from the Morris-Baker Funeral Home South Chapel. Reverend Ken Kyker, Reverend Ray Colbaugh and Reverend Curtis Hurt will officiate. Music will be under the direction of Kenny Greer. Graveside services will be held at 12 noon Friday at Monte Vista Memorial Park. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the funeral home at 11:30 AM and travel in procession to the cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mike Hodge, Bill Poarch, Jr., Chris Poarch, Jonathan Poarch, Pete Brown, Glenn Brown and Ralph Brown. Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Poarch and Elijah Hodge. The family will receive friends from 5-7 PM Thursday at the funeral home. The family wishes to express a special thanks to Jackie Staten of Johnson City for all the support, love and care she provided mom during her illness.
