Mary Frances Slemp

HEADLINE: Mary F. Slemp NO PHOTO Mary Frances Slemp, 68, 119 Jewel Street, died Friday, July 28, 2006, at North Side Hospital. Mrs. Slemp was a Piney Flats native and a lifelong resident of the Johnson City area. She was a daughter of the late Andrew Louis and Martha Alice Sinard Sartain. She was a beautician. Mrs. Slemp was a member of Pinecrest Baptist Church. She was a member of Order of the Eastern Star. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: her husband, William E. Slemp; granddaughter, Charlotte Parlier; great-grandson, Luciano Xavier Bell; and two brothers, Herbert and Rufus Sartain. Survivors include: five daughters, Vickie Slemp, Shanna Slemp, Regeni Rodriguez, and Angela Runion, all of Johnson City, and Rebecca Finley, Rogersville; four sisters, Margie Holloway, Piney Flats, Polly Proffitt, Jonesborough, Louise Metcalf and Virginia Lee Milhorn, both of Johnson City; three brothers, Floyd Arron Sartain and Donald Wayne Sartin, both of Piney Flats, and Fred Taylor Sartain, Warner Robins, GA; four grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. The funeral service for Mary Slemp will be conducted 8:00 PM Saturday from the Morris-Baker South Chapel. Rev. John Perkins will officiate. Pallbearers will be Jeff Jones, Don Sartin, Fred Sartain, Billy Huffman,Ray Birchfield, and Gary Milhorn. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandsons, Josh Lewis, Jeffery Bell, Jordan Lewis, and Shane Bell. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 PM Saturday at Morris-Baker. Graveside services will be conducted 2:00 PM Sunday at Roselawn Memory Gardens. Family and friends will gather at Morris-Baker by 1:30 PM to go in procession to the cemetery for those services.
