Mary Mudgett

d. September 24, 2005

Mary Mudgett, Gray TN quietly left us with a smile surrounded by those that loved and cherished her on Saturday, September 24, 2005 at 12:30 P.M. In addition to her loving husband, Bert Mudgett, she was preceded in death by daughter, Ruth Avery and siblings, Harry Maxwell and sister Bernetta Maxwell OSF. In addition to her faithful companion, Sissy, she is survived by her daughter Frances Jarvis and son-in-law, David, of Johnson City TN, son, Thomas Corum and daughter-in-law, Gladys of Johnson City, son, Herbert Corum and daughter-in-law, Carmella of Schaumburg, IL, four granddaughters, Monica Linares of Las Vegas, NV, Kimberly Corum of Pasadena, CA, Melissa Walling of Benecia, CA and Joel Miller of Fairfield, CA; four great grandchildren, Austin, Kaitlin, Devin and Jamie, niece, Harriet Schmitz and husband, Larry of Marlow, OK. She was a devout Catholic and parishioner of St. Mary?s Catholic Church. She was member of the CCW and had been an active part of the bereavement ministry. She was a faithful adorer at the Adoration Chapel until her health would no longer permit. She was a native of Phoenix, AZ and had lived in Kansas City, MO and Chicago, IL before she and Bert came to Gray in 1979. From that moment on they were truly home. The years saw her welcome each new neighbor, after her, with a cake and a smile and the baked goods kept coming throughout the years. The greatest joy for her was listening to the children and making each of them feel special and that included an endless supply of suckers and gum. She was repaid with their love and kindness until the last hour of her life. The family thanks all those who over the years gave as much love to her and Bert as she gave to them, especially Katie, Paul and Angie, Bill and Linda, Rick and all those who kept her in their prayers. The family would like to extend our thanks to the JCMC nursing and support staff of 5500 for the loving care received during her recent hospitalization, to all the Healthspan Home Health Nurses for their weekly visits over the past years, each one was so special, to the McLeod Blood Center Staff for the compassion shown throughout her illness, to Dr. Jay Mehta the family?s gratitude for the special healing of love and friendship given unconditionally to both Mary and Bert Mudgett over the years, to Kelly Mayden FNP for her constant support and love, you were source of comfort and joy that could only come from the grace of God. She loved you so much. To Mickii and Dou Carter, and their family, for their friendship and selflessness, words fail to express our love and gratitude towards you. Your surprise visits and special gifts from the moment you met her helped bring joy to her life. We know you loved her as much as she loved you. Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated by Father Gerard Finucane at 4:00 PM on Sunday, September 25, 2005 at St. Mary?s Church. The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM until 4:00 PM prior to Mass. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, memorials be made in the form of contributions to the Johnson City Animal Shelter, and organization that was close to her heart.
