Maynard E.'?Buss'? Day, 95, of Johnson City died Saturday, July 24, 2010 at the Johnson City Medical Center. Mr. Day was a native of Piney Flats and was a son of the late James A. and Maggie J. Collins Day. He was retired from Gordons Furniture with 30 years of service. Mr. Day was a very religious man and a Charter Member and former deacon of the Princeton Presbyterian Church with sixty plus years of membership. Mr. Day was a volunteer with Meals on Wheels for many years and also a several gallons blood donor with the American Red Cross. He was a lover of mealtime, wildlife, gardening, being with his family and talking on the telephone. He was an avid Atlanta Braves fan and admired Chipper Jones as his favorite player. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by: his wife Mary Lovelace Day in September of 2008; and one son, John Albert Day. Survivors include: one daughter, Mary Jane and her husband Ronald L. Morris of Pflugerville, TX; two sons, Maynard A.'? Bud'? Day of Erwin and Dennis A. and wife Susan Day of Johnson City; eight grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren, and two great great grandsons also survive. The family of Maynard E. Day will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Tuesday, July 27, 2010 in the Morris-Baker North Chapel . The funeral service will follow at 8 PM in the North Chapel. Rev. Andy White will officiate. The committal service will be conducted at 12 Noon Wednesday in the Monte Vista Memorial Park. Everyone will meet at Morris-Baker at 11:30 AM Wednesday to go in procession to the cemetery. Active pallbearers will be selected from Family and Friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Princeton Presbyterian Church, 2703 Oakland Avenue, Johnson City, TN 37601
