Michael Brandon Mottern, age 25, of 158 Briggs Road, Jonesborough, died Saturday, August 13, 2005. He was a native of Nashville, Tennessee but lived the majority of his life in Johnson City, Tennessee. He was a 1998 graduate of Science Hill High School. Michael, who was known as Brandon, was a very loving young man with lots of family and friends. Greeting you with a huge smile and a distinctive laugh, he left a lasting impression on everyone that he met. He was a great friend who was willing to help when anyone needed him. Brandon was a kind-hearted man with great love and loyalty to his family and friends. He enjoyed spending time with them and working on his cars. Brandon worked as a manager at Southern Classic Car Wash, where he took great pride in what he did. He was preceded in death by a nephew, Preston Rice; grandfather, Buddy Sexton; and a very special great-grandfather, Ed Sexton, whom he loved dearly. Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Robin Sexton Chasteen and Mike Chasteen of Colorado; and his father Mitch Mottern of Chattanooga; maternal grandmother, Pat Sexton, Johnson City; paternal grandparents, Tom Mottern of Tazewell, Tennessee and Louise Mottern of Knoxville; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Astin and Mark Rice of the home, Ashley Glover, Johnson City and Peyton Mottern of Chattanooga; a very special nephew and niece, Hunter Allen and Faith Anne Rice, whom he loved so much, and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Funeral services for Michael Brandon Mottern will be conducted Friday, August 19th, at 8:00 PM in the South Chapel of Morris-Baker Funeral Home. Rev. Jerry Keasling and Rev. Jason Castle will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Morris-Baker. Graveside services and burial will be at 10:00 AM at Sulphur Springs Cemetery. Family and friends will assemble at Morris-Baker Saturday at 9:15 to go in procession to the cemetery. Pallbearers will be his brother-in-law, Mark Rice, step-fathers, Mike Chasteen and Mark Glover, an uncle, Brad Mottern, life-long friends, Josh Callahan and Bradley Cox, and dear friends, Michael Mead and Jason Hyatt.
