Mildred Dora Newell

Mildred 'Tootsie' Newell, 88, died Wednesday, March 28, 2007 at the Johnson City Medical Center.Mrs. Newell was a native of Dante, VA and had lived in Johnson City since 1923.She was a daughter of the late Sam Pruner, Sr. and Dora Ambergy Pruner.Mrs. Newell was preceded in death by her husband, Sam H. Newell Jr. in 1989, four sisters and two brothers.She was a retired Licensed Practical Nurse and an employee of the Johnson City Medical Center for more than thirty years.Mrs. Newell attended Morning Light Baptist Church. Survivors include one daughter, Pat Campbell, Franklin, NC; three sons, David Newell, Cabot, Arkansas, Don Newell Sr., Johnson City and Larry Newell, York, SC; seven grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service for Mrs. Newell will be conducted at 2 PM Friday, March 30, 2007 from the Morris-Baker Funeral Home North Chapel. Reverend Jim Cox will officiate. Burial will follow in Monte Vista Memorial Park. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 1-2 PM Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the charity of your choice.
