Mildred Ruth Kelley

MILDRED RUTH HYDER KELLEY Age 89. Born December 26,1923, in Sullivan County, Tennessee, and had lived most of her life in Johnson City. Eldest child of the late Joe Fred Hyder and Minnie Ruth Baker Hyder. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Fannie Millhorn, Mary Bishop and Wanda Carr, and son-in-law, Pat Hennessee. She was a 1943 graduate of Boones Creek High School and retired from Parks-Belk as audit cashier after 53 years of service. Member of Austin Springs United Methodist Church and had also attended New Hope Church of Christ. She was an avid Bible reader and prayer warrior, and lived her life according to Gods instruction. She was a very humble lady, always putting others before herself and sacrificing much for family and friends. She enjoyed sewing and cooking and caring for her family. Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Teresa Hennessee and Phillip Atkinson; step grandchildren Rebecca Hennessee of Piney Flats, TN, and Edwin Hennessee of Johnson City, TN; step greatgrandchildren Corbin Hennessee and Amanda Hennessee of Johnson City, TN. Special friend and 'adopted' daughter Susie Arwood and several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Memorials may be made to Austin Springs United Methodist Church, 726 Austin Springs Road, Johnson City, TN 37601 or New Hope Church of Christ, 4527 Bristol Highway, Johnson City, TN 37601. Visitation will be on Tuesday, February 12, 2013 from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm, followed by funeral service at 7:00 pm in the South Chapel of the Morris '? Baker Funeral Home, with Messrs. Gary Ihfe and Paul Peer officiating. It was her request to be cremated with disposition of remains at a later time.
