Mildred Yelton

Mildred Yelton, age 85, passed, Monday, April 6, 2015 at NHC, Johnson City following a brief illness. She was born March 28, 1930 in Mitchell County, North Carolina to the late James Monroe Yelton, Sr. and Mae Hill Yelton. Mildred had resided in Piney Flats until her recent move to the nursing home. In addition to her parents, her brothers, James and Ralph Yelton, preceded her in death. Her sisters, Virginia Randolph, Doris Whitson, and her brother, Roy and his wife Pat survive her. Other survivors include nieces and nephews, Linda Guy, Marsha Randolph, Charles Yelton, Janet Miller, Eddie Whitson, Teresa King, Todd Yelton, Matt Yelton, Jeremy Yelton, and Elizabeth Kennedy. Mildred was a graduate of Tipton Hill High School and attended Appalachian State Teachers College before moving to Maryland. While living in Maryland, Mildred was employed for thirteen years by Bendix Corporation and as part of her work experience would work on projects that supplied parts for the NASA Space Program. After moving to Tennessee, she was employed with Texas Instruments until her retirement. Mildred enjoyed gardening and reading. In later years, she prided herself on staying up-to-date on current events. A highlight of her life was spending time and taking short excursions with a beloved niece, Marsha Randolph. The family of Mildred Yelton will receive friends from 6 to 7 PM Thursday April 9, 2015, in the Morris-Baker Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow with Evangelist Toonie Cash and Mildreds nephew, Jeremy Yelton officiating. The graveside committal service will be conducted at 11 AM Friday in the Roselawn Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Charles Yelton, Jeremy Yelton, Matthew Yelton, Louis Thorpe, Micky Archer, and Tony Ray. Ministers, family and friends are requested to meet at the funeral home by 10:15 AM Friday to go in procession to the cemetery.
