Monty Lee Vess

Monty Vess, 62, of Unicoi, Tennessee passed away February 6, 2014 at Holston Valley Medical Center. Monty was born in Knoxville, Tennessee and was the son of the late William Newt and Kathryn Vess of Johnson City, Tennessee. Monty was a graduate of ETSU and the Surgeon Assistant Program from the University of Alabama Birmingham. He recently retired from Blue Ridge Neuro Science Center, Kingsport, Tennessee. Monty was a longtime member of Cornerstone Church of Johnson City, Tennessee. He was preceded in death by: brother-in-law, Ricky Rogers. Survivors include: Loving wife of 39 years, Debbie Rogers Vess; two daughters, Stacie Graham and husband Graham of Chattanooga, Tennessee and Julie Davis and husband Will of Unicoi, Tennessee; grandchildren, Shawn, Noah, Payton and Presley; brother, Mark (Cathleen) Vess of Roan Mt., Tennessee; niece, Mollie Vess of Roan Mt., Tennessee and nephew Clayton Vess of Roan Mt., Tennessee. There will be a Memorial Service for Monty Vess Sunday, February 9, 2014 / 3:00pm at the Cornerstone Church in Johnson City, Tennesse . Dr. Barry Burns and Pastor Ann Burns will officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Cornerstone Church of Johnson City, Tennessee or the St. Jude Childrens Hospital.
