Mosby Earnest Rhodes, Jr.

September 8, 1939 — November 17, 2010

Mosby Earnest Rhodes, Jr. 71 went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at the Franklin Wood Community Hospital in Johnson City after a battle with cancer. Mr. Rhodes, was a son of the late Mosby Earnest, Sr. and Helen Ruth Morrison Rhodes. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Bobby Jean Cole and Dorothy Passmore, two brothers, John Rhodes and Oscar Troy Rhodes, one son, Earnest Mosby Rhodes, III and one daughter, Nicky Rhodes. He was a retired roofman and a member of The Way of The Cross Baptist Church. Survivors include; his wife, Susan Gentry Rhodes; one son, Matthew Brian Rhodes of the home; two daughters, Melissa Rhodes of Johnson City and Missy Ann Morrison and her fiancée Don Moore of Kingsport; eight Grandchildren; several great Grandchildren and several nieces and nephews; five brothers, Harold Rhodes and his wife Sheila of Piney Flats, Darold Rhodes and his wife Pat of Jonesborough, Robert Rhodes and his wife Carolyn of Greenville, Harry Rhodes and his wife Lynda of Fall Branch and Paul Rhodes and his wife, Jean of Rutherford, NC; seven sisters, Evelyn Fagan and her husband Hank of Johnson City, Debbie Blackburn of Rock Hill, SC, Agnes Perrigan and her husband Harrell of Rock Hill, SC, Clara Mungo and her husband Steve of Lancaster, SC, Kathea Lett and her husband Reggie of Piney Flats, Mary Jo Ayers and her husband Raymond of Johnson City and Bessie Perrigan and her husband Don of Piney Flats. Graveside services will be conducted at 2:30pm Friday, November 19, 2010 from Carter Cemetery in Fort Blackmore, VA. Rev. Jack Maupin will officiate. Burial will follow the service. Pallbearers will be family and friends. The family will receive friends from 12 to 1 PM Friday at Morris-Baker.
