Myrtle Palmer 'MaMaw' Moody died Wednesday, May 04, 2005 at the Johnson City Medical Center. Mrs. Moody was a native of Butler, TN a former resident of Washington County and had lived in Carter County for the past few years. She was a daughter of the late Richard Palmer and Della Younce Palmer and was also preceded in death by her husband, George Hugh Moody and one sister, Georgia Dishner. Mrs. Moody was retired from the Veterans Affairs Medical Center and was an employee of Aunt B?s restaurant. She was an active member of the National Federation of Federal Employees and had for over twenty years volunteered in the Coffee Ministry at the Johnson City Medical Center. Mrs. Moody retired from that ministry in January 2005. Mrs. Moody was a member of Pinecrest Baptist Church. She is survived by two daughters, Patricia A Moody Hicks, Johnson City and Phyllis Moody Blackburn and her husband Basil, Johnson City; one granddaughter, Sherry McNabb, Johnson City; three grandsons, David Hicks, Bluff City and Brian and Chad Blackburn both of Johnson City; six great grandchildren, Kayla and Matthew Hicks, Clay and Chase McNabb, Brianna and Allison Blackburn and three sisters, Mary Alice Hanna, Johnson City, Chloe Swift, Kingsport and Margie Lee Williams, Kingsport and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service for Mrs. Moody will be conducted at 8 PM Friday from the Morris-Baker Funeral Home South Chapel. Reverend John Perkins will officiate. Graveside services will be held at 11 AM Saturday at Monte Vista Memorial Park. Family and friends are asked to assemble at 10:30 AM at the funeral home and travel in procession to the cemetery. Pallbearers will be Brian Blackburn, David Hicks, Chad Blackburn, Jim Dishner, Jerry Swift and Ronnie Lisenby. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Friday at the funeral home and at other times at the residence of her daughter, Phyllis Blackburn, 109 Mocking Bird Hill Lane, Johnson City.
