Nellie Ruth Owens

Nellie Owens, 92, Johnson City, passed away Monday, March 18, 2019, at The Waters of Johnson City. Nellie was a Washington County native, born to the late John O. and Nola Mae Hale. She was a housewife that raised five sons. She was a member of North Johnson City Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, Nellie was preceded in death by: her husband, Lawrence Owens; one son, Brian Keith Owens; one grandson, Patrick Owens; four brothers, Haul Hale, IG Hale, Jimmie Hale and Lawrence Hale; and one sister, Mildred Hale Price. Survivors include: four sons, Michael Owens and his wife Saundra, of Johnson City, Gary Owens and his wife Maria, of Newport News, VA, Craig Owens and his wife Rachel, of Gallatin, TN and Mark Owens, of Johnson City; grandchildren, Todd, William, Jeremy, Phillip, Brian Keith, Sanders, Isaiah, Allison, Ansley, Morgan and Leah; eight great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. The family of Nellie Owens will receive friends from 6 PM until 8 PM Thursday, March 21, 2019, at Morris-Baker Funeral Home. The funeral will follow at 8 PM with Rev. Rick Powell officiating. Pallbearers will be: Mike, Gary, Craig, Mark, Todd and Sanders Owens. The committal service will be held at 10 AM Friday, March 22, 2019. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home by 9:45 AM to go in procession to Monte Vista Memorial Park.
