Nina Joan Herman

Nina Joan Shelton Herman, age 66, passed away on Sunday, October 24, 2010 in the Sycamore Shoals Hospital. Mrs. Herman was born in Johnson City, Tennessee, a daughter of the late Norman Charles and Kate Mae Lamons Shelton. She was a single mother and a member of Bethel Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Herndon, Sr. Mrs. Herman is survived by two daughters, Rhonda Ledford Braton and Nora Cunningham Barringer; one son, Joe Herndon, II; two grandchildren, Robert Scot Barringer and Ealiceia Braton; two brothers, Dub C. Shelton and wife Charlotte and James R. Shelton; four sisters, Barbara Barnes and husband Mike, Nell Brown and husband Larry, Linda Gentry and husband Bill, and Sharon Shelton Branch; several nieces and nephews; two brother-in-laws and one sister-in-law, Clinton Dye and wife Nancy and Paul Herndon, Jr. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm Thursday evening, October 28, 2010 in the Morris-Baker Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm Friday afternoon, October 29, 2010 in the Monte Vista Memorial Park with Pastor Bill Duncan officiating. Pallbearers will be Dahl Jones, Daniel Ray, Jansen Henley, Robert Barringer, Joe Herndon, Clinton Dye, Paul Herndon, Jr., and Mike Barnes. A funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 1:45 pm Friday afternoon. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be sent to the Herman family.
