Nita Jean Lunceford

Nita Jean Lunceford, 79, of Johnson City, died Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at the Lakebridge Health Care Center. She was a native of Glamawr, Kentucky, and a daughter of the late T. G. and Cora Bell Strunk York. Nita was a retired employee of the Texas Instruments Company. She was a longtime member of the Wayside Baptist Church, where she had served as: Training Union Director, Adult Sunday School teacher, pianist and treasurer. Nita was raised in St. Charles, Virginia, but lived most of her life in Johnson City. She was preceded in death by: four brothers, Beckham 'Jack'?, Bonny, Windle and K. D. York; and three sisters, Virginia Owen, Eula Harvey, and Flara Brashear. Survivors include: two sons and a daughter-in-law. Jerry and Deborah Lunceford, of Corpus Christi, TX, and Jackie Darrell Lunceford, of Mobile, AL; one daughter, Julia Ann Onks, of Winston-Salem, NC; one sister, June Risden; a brother, Lloyd J. York; four grandchildren, Laura Ann, Mitchell, Amy and Rachel; several nieces and nephews. A funeral service is scheduled for Friday, October 18, 2013 at 7:00 pm in the South Chapel of the Morris '? Baker Funeral Home under the direction of Rev. Steve Hillman. Rev. Hillman and her daughter-in-law, Debra, will provide special music. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until time of service at 7:00 pm. A committal service will be conducted on Saturday, October 19, 2013 at 10:00 am in the Monte Vista Memorial Park. Friends and family are asked to assemble at the cemetery by 9:45 am. In lieu of flowers, please send memorials to: the Wayside Baptist Church, 2516 Watauga Road, Johnson City, TN 37601.
